Valentine's Day
/By and large, I am finding that Valentines Day is getting a bad rap. For the last month or so, I have been thinking about Valentine's Day and where it fits in the cycle of a shop like mine. I have mentioned the "V" word a few times to people when they come into the shop and it has been interesting to see the varied responses. Mostly they come with upturned noses mumbling something about "Hallmark Holiday".
I so get it. The Christmas/Hanukkah season feels like it just ended and was like a non-stop Super-bowl commercial. It's so easy for lovers to look at each other and simultaneously say, "Let's skip it." I can honestly say that I have been one of those people.
But you know what? February sucks. You know it does. Maybe V-Day is our chance to find a way to celebrate. We could all use a pick me up this time of year. I will tell you a little secret though. All that Valentine's stuff is 50% off on the 15th. Maybe just schedule your day with your special someone a little later, it's just between you two after all.
